Disrupting the standards… and the outcomes

It was the height of lockdown here in Spain and a question started flickering, like a tiny flame, in my mind.

A first, it was easy enough to ignore, but as July 2020 wore on, the questions grew steadily in number and insistence:

  • What would guide people from being completely frustrated with diabetes to feeling in control, supported, and much more confident, in the shortest amount of time?

  • How could we help people skip past much of the trial and error, and save the 5+ years of testing, searching for answers, and more testing that Allison and I each did personally?

  • How could we ensure that people had an in-depth education about Dr. Bernstein's diabetes protocol, making the guidelines more understandable, in everyday English?

  • How could we provide a ridiculous amount of support both in a group format and 1:1 coaching?

SLOWLY, Based on those questions, an idea was born.

I ran this idea by a few key advisors in my circle and all thought it was a good - albeit huge - project.

I knew that we needed lots of high-profile presenters from the diabetes community: doctors, scientists, engineers - all who knew and followed low carb, and who were, ideally, type 1s themselves.

With the support of our advisors, and a solid program outline, I sent an email to Dr. Richard K. Bernstein. MD.

This email was typed with shaking fingers, and I was nearly as nervous as when I met Dr. B personally back in 2016.

Dr. Bernstein emailed back wanting to set up a video call. I was elated. We had two calls and exchanged several emails over the next month, which included sending about 60 pages of documentation to him about the proposed program, the diaVerge business plan, financial reports and contracts. He's detailed!

But something kept nagging me.

I love Dr. Bernstein. I am forever grateful for his pioneering nature, his incredible, unrelenting pursuit of excellence, his selfless giving, his quirky nature, and his wicked sense of humor.

The truth is, Allison and I have found slightly different methods that work well for us and many of our clients.

This includes pumping, newer insulins, new food products, supplements, and adjustments for female hormones. While we still follow the framework of Dr. Bernstein, it's a newer, modernized and personalized version that better fits our lifestyles and that of our clients.

And that, we realized, is how we had to proceed.

Through 9 months of endless focus, coordination and long days, The Diabetes Redesigned program came to life.

Launched in January 2021, we’ve now completed nearly 3 years of guided online education and coaching through the Diabetes Redesigned program and our member’s results in only 12-weeks have been phenomenal.

  • Nearly all of our program members have seen reductions in A1c, with 76% of our students experiencing reduction in A1c >1.0 % (equivalent to 0.5 mmol/L). Of course, this all depends on your starting point. People already in tight control had a smaller potential range of improvement.

  • Many members have achieved large reductions in A1c, with several reducing A1c by >4% and losing >20 lbs of weight.

  • Members are reporting feeling more confident , supported and empowered in their T1D care

We’re having so much success, we’re offering a ‘Success Guarantee’ for our PREMIUM VIP members. If you show up to all your calls and do the work as requested, you will see success.

PLUS, several of our members are medical professionals, taking control of their own health with T1D, and others are previous patients of Dr. B who want to learn how to fit the protocol into their everyday life.

If you want to see what all the fuss is about, and start for yourself, learn more at diaverge.com/reset and join us for the only diabetes education and support program that you’ll ever need (it’s lifetime access, community & support!)
