My Promise To You For 2018

Happy 2018!

If you're new to diaVerge Diabetes, welcome. If you've been here for a while, thanks for sticking around. I'm glad you're here.

I want to start this new year with an introduction and a promise.

My promise to you is that I'm a real human following Dr. Bernstein's plan as outlined in Dr. Bernstein's Diabetes Solution book. I promise to be honest about the successes AND challenges that I've encountered so that we can all learn from experience. I promise to continue learning and sharing the info that I have with you.

I was diagnosed type 1 as an adult in 2002 but grew up around diabetes with both my mom and older brother diagnosed type 1 in the 1980's. I felt a lot of guilt then as the 'healthy' sibling and wondered what I could ever do to take some of my brother's struggles away. But the truth is, I didn't really get it -- even past the time of my own diagnosis. I did what I wanted to and was fiercely stubborn in my 20's and 30s.

It wasn't until I stumbled on Dr. Bernstein's book and read it for the first time (before I even started the plan) that an idea began to grow in my head:

"What if this IS the answer to my problems? What if this IS sustainable? What if this plan does as it promises?

As I've written before, I tried Dr. B's plan and knew within the first day that I had to continue. Within the first week, I was completely sold. Within the first year, this site was started and has kept growing ever since.

I understand what you're going through. Diabetes is not easy.

I've had dismissive doctors, struggles with insurance coverage and medical supplies. I have people in my life who try to be supportive but don't 'get' what I'm going through. I understand the isolation, fear, and depression associated with diabetes. I understand the struggle for normal blood sugar levels when you're not given the tools to succeed.

My goal here is to help ease some of that worry, fear and isolation. Sometimes just knowing your not alone can help. I understand.

Now, how does diaVerge work?

I started diaVerge Diabetes to teach what I've learned and spread the word about Dr. Bernstein's Diabetes Solution book. Period.

I'll never push a supplement, membership or miracle product that I sell (other than recommending Dr. B's book!)

One way that I help support this site and the advocacy work that I do here is by using affiliate links. If you choose to make a purchase through a link here, I may receive a small commission while you pay nothing additional. This helps to support diaVerge.com and our work within the diabetes community. I will NEVER recommend or link to a product that I don't love and personally use, or know firsthand that others are having success with.

Another source of income that supports this site is freelance writing. As any freelancer knows, it doesn't pay much, but I do get paid for my my articles to other online publications such as Diabetes Daily. Here's a summary post of my Diabetes Daily articles if you wish to catch up.

I also offer Diabetes Wellness Coaching but I will never use hard sell tactics. If you're new to low carb or the diaVerge site, start with the links listed at the bottom of this page. If you need additional help getting started, if you're having challenges with Dr. Bernstein's plan or feel alone in your journey and need personal support, contact me through this page. I'd love to learn more about you and help in any way that I can.

As a part of my coaching work, I announced on World Diabetes Day that a portion of all diaVerge coaching sales in 2018 will be donated to two amazing organizations, Faustman Lab and T1International.  I look forward to supporting these two organizations and I'll be publishing our donation results at the end of this year. This year is all about clarity!

Above all, I believe with all my heart that more information about low carb eating for diabetes management needs to get out into the world. We need to have access to the tools for success, to be empowered and take control of our health.

My goal is to help you succeed and improve your health today and for the rest of your life.

Remember, we're in this together!

Best,
