We recently posted a request on facebook, searching for a ‘Kid Correspondent’ to help us bring info about low carb T1D management to other kids in our newly launched lct1d.com family community.
The response to our call was incredible.
We received videos from all over the world, from kids interested in bringing their T1D experience, understanding, and positivity to other kids who need it.
We couldn’t pick just one kid correspondent, so we chose three:
Our selection includes three confident, fun-loving T1D kids who follow a low carb diet:
Daisy is a 7-year-old from the USA who loves to create (and eat) low carb foods, loves horseback riding, softball, and her mermaid tail. She has two brothers (one her twin and one older), and was diagnosed T1D just 10 months ago.
Carter is an 11-year old from the UK who loves art, gaming (inviting other T1D kids to challenge him on Fortnite), but especially, he loves Parkour. Carter was the first child in the UK to be prescribed vials of Actrapid (Regular) insulin.
Emma is a 9-year old from Australia who loves dance, multiple sports, reading, and drama. She’s fluent in English and Spanish and is teaching herself French. Emma’s younger brother is also T1D.
Daisy, Carter and Emma will be producing videos for the kid’s portion of the lct1d.com community about their T1D experiences, tips for other kids about technology, injections, low carb foods, sports and activities.
It’s so important that low carb T1D kids have other kids to learn from and feel supported, knowing that they all have similar experiences. This hasn’t been done until now.
From across the world, Daisy, Carter and Emma will be the leaders and role models for so many others.
